Scott Campit (Chandrasekaran Lab), rising third year Chemical Biology Ph.D. student, has been selected for the Proteome Informatics of Cancer Training Program (PICTP) for 2019-2020. Congratulations, Scott!

Two PCB students successfully defended in the past month - Congratulations to Desiree Garcia-Torres (Fierke Lab) and Omari Baruti (Mapp/Martin Labs)!

Program Director and faculty member of the Program in Chemical Biology, Dr. Anna Mapp, has been appointed associate dean for academic programs and initiatives at Rackham Graduate School. In this new role, she will work closely with master's and Ph.D. degree-granting programs in the biological and health sciences to promote academic excellence, cross-unit partnership, student recruitment, graduate career outcomes, and improved campus climate and student experience. She also will continue in her roles as a research professor at the Life Sciences Institute and the Edwin Vedejs Collegiate Professor of Chemistry.

Congratulations to third year student, Rosa Vasquez (Sherman Lab), who was named a 2019 National Geographic Young Explorer! Rosa successfully competed with thousands of applicants to be chosen as one of the few to be supported by a National Geographic grant for her project "MicroAmazon: The Hidden World of Amazonian Extremophiles" to initiate biodiversity and natural product discovery research in the Peruvian Amazon "Boiling River" area in the summer of 2019.
